Building community-centered health care climate resilience

Tuesday, May 21, 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Join this half-day pre-conference workshop to learn how to put into practice community-centered health care climate resilience at your organization.

The impacts of climate change are increasingly frequent and intense, affecting communities and patients. There is growing momentum and interest from the health care sector in climate resilience, with more than 900 hospitals publicly committed to developing a resilience plan through the HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge. Drawing from Health Care Without Harm’s framework, guidance, and experience, this session will support health care organizations in building community-centered resilience. Presenters will provide concrete examples and tools for health sector resilience plan development while grounding participants in how to engage and co-create solutions with community members. Additional information

  • These organizations may have a few projects underway, but sustainability efforts are new or limited and only active in select practices in select departments.

  • Sustainability has become an organizational priority and aligns strategically for greater impact and efficiency. A cultural shift is emerging that includes external stakeholders and a prioritization of sustainability initiatives across several departments.

  • Sustainability is embedded into mission, strategy, and business (including financial) planning and operations.

Food and diet

You can expect exciting and satisfying creations that utilize a variety of plant proteins which are inspired by flavors and cuisines from cultures around the world. You may even get to experience some Salt Lake City favorites with a plant-based twist. All that deliciousness also comes with a lower climate impact! All attendees will be served plant-based meals by default. If you prefer something different, please indicate your dietary preferences below.
